Top Tennis Podcasts

Every Grand-Slam is an amazing and relentless two weeks of non-stop tennis matches, tournament updates, player interviews and opinion pieces. It’s enough to merit time off work.

Then, within a day or so of the titles being won - nothing. The news focuses elsewhere, social channels seem to slow down and television becomes a lot more boring.

Thankfully, there’s a growing number of podcasts to fill the gap until the tennis circus kick starts for another Slam, giving you much food for thought on how the last tournament happened, who might be in with a chance of winning the next, what injuries are threatening your favourite stars and which coach should pair with which players.

To help you boost your commutes to work, lunchtime wanders and evening runs with tennis chatter, we’ve listed out some of our podcast favourites.

The Tennis Podcast

This long-running podcast by commentators and journalists David Law and Catherine Whitaker provides a great mix of tournament coverage, opinion and debate. The speed it publishes daily episodes at throughout big tournaments is impressive and the chemistry between its hosts clear.

Another podcast that provides great on-the-go coverage of each big Slam is this offering by one of the most established tennis websites and magazines. Hosts Steve and Ed keep you informed on who they think will win up-coming big matches, who they think’s playing best and how seasons are unfolding.

The Main Draw

Brought to you by former college tennis player Chris Neary and editor of new-ish tennis magazine Racquet, Caitlin Thompson, this one comes with a lot of personality as it covers both the tour’s big tournaments and the latest news and rumours throughout the tennis community.

The Tennis Nerd Podcast

This relatively new podcast aims to go beyond everyday tennis coverage and is off to a great start. Each episode features a special guest from the world of tennis, from magazine editors and journalists to ex-players and related podcast hosts. Together, besides matches, they discuss equipment, tactics and psychology of the game.

Essential Tennis Podcast

If listening to all of this content drives you out on court, why not play this on on route? Rather than cover what’s happening in the news and on tour, it focuses on improving your game. Tennis professional Ian Westermann answers his listeners’ questions, from how to approach tennis strategy to improving your various different techniques.

The Body Serve Tennis Podcast

This final recommendation strikes a strong mix of tennis expertise and humour, as it covers all of the tour’s key events and explores whatever talking points are consuming the tennis community, from injury scares and tournament draws to match rules and newspaper coverage.

Beyond the Baseline

Brought to you by Sports Illustrated, Beyond The Baseline is a long-running podcast presented by Jon Wertheim. Besides enjoying coverage of the season’s biggest Slams and tournaments, listeners can expect a broad range of interviews and discussions covering all aspects of the sport, from its rising stars and emerging trends to activity in the media and beyond.
