During the 2021/22 season, Johannes Strolz wrote several chapters of skiing history. On January 9, 2022, the ski athlete from Vorarlberg celebrated his first World Cup victory at the age of 29 with bib number 38 in the Slalom in Adelboden. And just over a month later, Strolz finally reached Olympic ski star status. At the Beijing Games, the Austrian athlete won the Gold medal in the Combined event and Silver in the Slalom. The Gold medal is both a fairy tale come true and a premiere in ski racing: Johannes Strolz is the first skier to win Gold in the Olympic Games in the same discipline as his father, Hubert, who won the Combined event 34 years earlier in Calgary. Born in Bludenz in Vorarlberg in 1992, Johannes Strolz competes in the World Cup in Slalom and Giant Slalom. He stood on skis for the first time at the age of two. Johannes Strolz went to Ski Secondary School in Schruns and graduated from Ski Academy Stams. It's not only a passion for skiing that he shares with his father. Both also enjoy climbing and playing chess.
