Which boots should I select?
Same as with your board and bindings you should choose your boots based on your riding style and ability level. Beginners and freeriders in general will appreciate a tighter hold for stability and responsiveness whereas freestylers often go with softer boots with more play in order for them to be more flexible and forgiving when doing park and urban tricks. Usually you will want more Flex and a higher degree of forward lean the more experienced you are.
With regard to comfort, fit is key. Most riders choose boots half a size or a full size bigger than their street shoes. In any way, your heels should fit tight while at the same time your toes should just feel the front of the boot when putting weight on your heel. When you try on a boot make sure it’s tightly laced and you flex your legs. You should feel comfortable in any kind of position. However, you may only know for sure whether a boot is right after having done a few runs in it.
How can I reach an even better fit?
Thanks to our Perfect Fit liner technology, all of our boots can be heat molded to be fitted to your individual foot shape. While we do suggest to get them heat molded at any official reseller who has the correct tools it is yet possible to do it at home. We use the following times and temperatures: 5 minutes at 80°C
How should I maintain my boots?
Boots are stressed a lot while snowboarding. Whether it is the constant contact with snow and ice, warmth and moisture from the inside or simply the stretching and flexing they are always under pressure. So if you want your boots to stay fresh and live longer here’s what you can do:
Take out the liners (inner boot) and dry them separately. You can always use professional boot driers, but usually they will dry pretty well by just putting them somewhere warm (not too warm!).
As for the inner boot people often see themselves confronted with nasty odors. Since these odors are produced by bacteria and fungus it makes sense to treat them with an antibiotic spray that won’t damage the materials. Another trick is putting them into the freezer (preferably in a bag). The cold should kill the bacteria and reduce the smell.
