HEAD (STRINGS) on Tour
When talking about tennis brands it is almost inevitable that at a certain point the name HEAD drops. Known for iconic racquet franchises such as RADICAL or PRESTIGE, HEAD shaped the development of the game and was able to gain the position as the leading innovation brand in tennis. But few know that besides racquets, HEAD also produces strings that are already widely used on the Pro Tour.
Especially HEAD’s HAWK franchise, a monofilament string family made for players who want more control, is used by players such as Taylor Fritz, Alexander Zverev or Fernando Verdasco.
The up and coming American player is not only using HEAD strings, he has also been involved in the development phase of the HAWK string. For his aggressive and extremely powerful game, especially on his forehand he is looking for very good control and also durability. The HAWK string delivers all of this, and Taylor is using it in a hybrid set up, already since the development started.
Coming back from a recent injury, Taylor is on his way back up in the ATP rankings and remains one of the future stars of the game.
Alexander has been a big support for the HEAD R&D and Product Team in the developing phase of the HAWK TOUCH. He is using this string in a hybrid set up and it delivers everything he is looking for – great control and additional touch.
With the HAWK TOUCH string HEAD sets a new standard in strings for the modern game and Alexander Zverev is supporting this with his impressive results on the court. After winning the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 in Rome and Montreal, Zverev is currently ranked No. 4 in the world, which is an impressive achievement for the 20 year old.
Fernando Verdasco is known as one the hardest hitters on the ATP Tour. Every player who faces Fernando on the court is afraid of the lefty’s forehand. The Spin he generates is outstanding and Fernando has assisted the HEAD R&D Team in the development of the latest version in the HAWK string franchise. HEAD has designed a special surface to deliver more bite on the ball and a faster snapback to increase the spin potential. The HAWK ROUGH is available in 1.25mm/17gauge and silver grey color since beginning 2017.
Fernando found the best set up in playing the Hawk Rough as Main String and using a thinner gauge Hawk as cross string.
