Biography

A successful athlete who stands up for others There aren't many skiers who can look back on such a great track record as Maria Höfl-Riesch. The German athlete won four Olympic medals in her career, three of which were Gold. At World Championship events she won six medals; twice she stood on the top of the podium. She also notched up an overall World Cup victory, five Crystal Balls in Downhill, Super-G, Slalom and the combined event and a total of 27 individual World Cup victories. Since ending her career in 2014, she has continued to be closely connected with skiing - as an ambassador for HEAD and as an expert on TV. Maria Höfl-Riesch attaches great importance to social commitment. She is an Ambassador for the World Future Council, which is committed to the future of children, and also supports the Laureus Sport for Good foundation, which promotes socially disadvantaged children and young people with support projects worldwide. "I see standing up for others as a meaningful enrichment to my life," says Maria Höfl-Riesch.
