Lena Dürr on the podium at the Night Race

In the last Slalom event before the Olympic Games, Lena Dürr once again shows she is on top form. The German athlete finished third in the first women's Night Race in Schladming on Tuesday, her third podium this season. Fourth place went to Camille Rast - the best World Cup result in the Swiss athlete's career so far.

"Lena Dürr is now competing consistently at such a high level. Wherever she skis, everything works together and she feels on top form," explains HEAD Racing Director Rainer Salzgeber. "Naturally, she is now one of the favourites in Beijing. We are in the pleasing situation of having several athletes at the start who can lead the competition. Fourth place for Camille Rast was really great. She had to cope with a series of injuries. Now she has fully recovered and is performing extremely well. She has a very experienced service man from the Swiss Ski Federation working for her. That pays off, with everything working well together. It was a pity that Anna Swenn-Larsson dropped out. She was heading for a really fast run."

"I get on my skis and know that everything under me works brilliantly"

Two third places in Levi, fifth place in Killington, fourth place in Kranjska Gora and now third place in Schladming. Lena Dürr, in second place after the first run in Schladming, is showing what she is capable of achieving this season. "That's awesome, unbelievable. It's easy skiing, which is a lot of fun," the 30-year-old said at the finish. "I get on my skis and know that everything under me works brilliantly. I am able to ski with incredible precision. I can now conjure up what I didn't think I was able to do in recent years. As long as I can, I want to run with that feeling and not even think about it too long. Skiing is like a puzzle. The more things work together, the easier and simpler it is."

Best World Cup result for Camille Rast

Camille Rast was pleased about her best World Cup result so far. The Swiss athlete raced to fourth place, just missing the podium. The 22-year-old, who missed the previous event in Kranjska Gora due to Corona, is also enjoying by far the best season in her career. Maria Therese Tviberg from Norway moved up from 24th to tenth place overall with the fourth-fastest time on the second run.
