Biography

A gondola in Kitzbühel for "Pepi" Ferstl The 27th of January 2019 - a date that has probably had the greatest impact on Josef Ferstl's skiing career so far. This was the day the Bavarian athlete won the Super-G on the legendary Hahnenkamm run in Kitzbühel. To win on this course is something very special, because as Ferstl says, "the Streif is simply always difficult". For him, however, this victory is even more significant than for others, because 40 years prior to that his father Josef "Sepp" Ferstl was also a winner. Both now have their own gondola in Kitzbühel. Dad has number 8, son has number 53. So as not to get them mixed up, gondola 53 is not inscribed with Josef, but with his nickname "Pepi".
