Biography

Blake is the son of two ski instructors and began skiing at three years old, progressing into racing at Coronet Peak at age five. Although he was born in Queenstown, New Zealand, his parents followed the snow across hemispheres between their homeland and Morgins in the Swiss Alps. Blake can’t remember a time when skiing wasn’t part of his life and as a young teenager, he enjoyed freestyle before moving over to freeride age 16. He began competing on the Freeride World Qualifier Tour in 2016 and in 2018 he won first place at The North Face Frontier Winter Games NZ 4*on his home hill, The Remarkables. That season he also competed in several European events, eventually qualifying for the Freeride World Tour 2020. Although Blake narrowly missed the podium in Fieberbrunn 2020, he won bronze in Ordino Arcalís, Andorra in 2021. The easy-going, humble kiwi coaches freeride and freestyle at The Remarkables Snowsports Academy and is looking forward to launching a Freeride World Tour coaching academy there in 2022.
