Novak Djokovic and the Mets

Sounds a bit like a band name, doesn’t it?

HEAD Pro Players may play with different racquets from the model shown.

Sure, Djokovic and the Mets could make a great band name, but that’s a project for another time.

If you’re still wondering what’s behind this — at first glance, rather unusual — combination, let us explain this newly formed friendship.

It all started with rumors swirling around Queens, New York, that Novak Djokovic might become the newest member of the world-famous baseball team, the New York Mets.

Then, several videos went viral showing Djokovic with the Mets at Citi Field. If you’ve seen one of them, you probably noticed something seemed a little “off.”

Was he really playing baseball with his tennis racket? And why on earth did the Mets let him?

For our latest marketing campaign for the new HEAD Speed Legend racket, we teamed up with our longtime HEAD athlete Novak Djokovic and the New York Mets to create a bold, unexpected campaign right before the start of the US Open.

And by the way, that “extra training” on the baseball field seemed to pay off — Djokovic showed strong form and reached the semifinals at the US Open.

The campaign received a lot of positive reactions, and we were able to showcase our new Speed Legend racket not only to the tennis community. After all, sports are sports, and we’re sure that not only Djokovic can enjoy baseball — baseball fans might just fall for tennis, too.

A win-win for both sides.
And as for that band idea? Maybe another time ;)
