Sixth Super-G Crystal Globe for Lara Gut-Behrami

Lara Gut-Behrami skis a brilliant run with a lead of 1.33 seconds over her rival for the Super-G Crystal Globe, Federica Brignone, to secure victory in Sun Valley on Sunday. This is her seventh Crystal Globe overall, her sixth in the Super-G, and the third in a row in this discipline. Lindsey Vonn takes second place, putting her on the podium for the first time since her sensational comeback. Lukas Feurstein celebrates his first World Cup victory in the men's Super-G on Sunday, and Franjo von Allmen finishes third.

New all-time record in the Super-G

Lara Gut-Behrami also set a new all-time record with her Crystal Globe in the Super-G. This is the 33-year-old Swiss athlete's second victory this season - following her win in the Super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in January - and the 47th of her career. “I skied at top speed. The snow was fantastic and I managed to keep up the pace from top to bottom. It was a perfect run. Since I arrived here, I've been looking forward to skiing again and that makes it fun. I'm very proud of this sixth Crystal Globe and I'm happy I can finish the season this way,” said Lara Gut-Behrami.

Lindsey Vonn's second place was also sensational. The USA athlete claimed her 138th podium finish, her first since her comeback this season, and her first in 2,565 days. Previously, the last time the 40-year-old stood on the podium was when she finished third at the Super-G in Aare on March 15th, 2018. “This is awesome! So many people have said I'm too old and not fast enough,” said Lindsey Vonn. “I still fought the whole season and it wasn't always easy. But for my home crowd, I gave it everything I have. Thank God I'm back on the podium. I'm very proud of what I've achieved at the age of 40 with half an artificial knee. I've always believed in myself, and I think I can be even faster!”

Nine HEAD World Cup Rebels in the top 15

Also finishing in the top 15 were Cornelia Hütter and Ariane Rädler from Austria in sixth and seventh place, Emma Aicher from Germany ninth, Laura Pirovano from Italy tenth, Kajsa Vickhoff Lie from Norway twelfth, Elena Curtoni from Italy 13th and Corinne Suter from Switzerland 15th.

First World Cup victory for Lukas Feurstein

Lukas Feurstein celebrated his first podium finish in December 2024 when he came third in the Beaver Creek Super-G. Now the 23-year-old Austrian has finally made his breakthrough to the top of the world with his victory in the Super-G in Sun Valley. “It didn't feel like a smooth run. I was skiing at the limit all the time and wanted to take risks and keep up the speed. Having managed to do that is a great feeling”, said Lukas Feurstein. Franjo von Allmen finished third, which is the seventh podium for the Swiss athlete this season. Stefan Eichberger, Vincent Kriechmayr and Stefan Babinsky from Austria finished in sixth, seventh and ninth place, Ryan Cochran-Siegle from the USA was 13th, Justin Murisier from Switzerland 14th, and James Crawford from Canada 15th. In the overall Super-G ranking, Vincent Kriechmayr came third and Franjo von Allmen fourth.
