Eco-Designed Tennis: HEAD Unveils Recyclable Ball Tubes

At HEAD, we take a holistic approach to climate action. We are more committed than ever to safeguarding our planet so that future generations can continue to enjoy the sports and activities they love. That's why we’ve introduced fully recyclable tennis ball tubes. These eco-friendly cans provide players with a more sustainable option without compromising on quality or performance.

This redesign is part of HEAD’s “Rethink” sustainability initiative, which aims to enhance the performance of all HEAD products while reducing their environmental impact. HEAD’s sustainability pillars include designing more eco-friendly packaging, conducting R&D into new materials and production processes, using renewable energy, and developing products made from recycled materials.

HEAD’s sustainability pillars include designing more eco-friendly packaging, conducting R&D into new materials and production processes, using renewable energy, and developing products made from recycled materials.

As a result of these changes, tests show the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 10 times, according to Saubermacher’s “Sustainable Tennis Balls and Ball Cans” report for HEAD in January 2022. Ulrike Knaus, a resource consultant at Saubermacher AG (a recycling company), explains in a video how various plastic items are analyzed, separated, and reused.

We are proud that HEAD tubes are more sustainable, as they now feature fully recyclable PET plastic, a shorter label, and reduced ink usage in their packaging. Sport is our passion, but without a livable planet, there will be no sport. This is the most important match any of us will ever play—and we can't afford to lose.

Plus, tennis stars Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner encourage you to recycle. And if they say so… ????
