HEAD Stars: Shining Down Under

Celebrating 75 years of excellence, what better way to kick off this milestone than by highlighting our star players at the first Grand Slam of the season? Known as the "Happy Slam," the Australian Open is renowned for its electrifying matches, vibrant atmosphere, and state-of-the-art facilities. Beloved by players and fans alike, its hard-court battles and dramatic storylines make it a must-watch event every year.

This year, Novak Djokovic continues his relentless pursuit of history, aiming to add yet another Australian Open title to his illustrious career. Jannik Sinner, the reigning Grand Slam champion, will look to build on his thrilling five-set victory over Daniil Medvedev in last year’s final. Alexander Zverev, fresh off a stellar 2024 season that included the Italian Open and Paris Masters titles, a French Open final, and a career-high ATP World No. 2 ranking, is another top contender. Taylor Fritz, who reached his first quarterfinal at last year’s tournament with a victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas, is eager to make his mark this season.

On the women’s side, Coco Gauff’s powerful all-court game and athleticism make her a star to watch. After reaching the semi-finals last year and securing the WTA title, she is primed for another strong performance. Karolína Muchová, returning from a wrist injury, brings her versatile and creative playstyle to the competition. Barbora Krejcikova, whose precision and doubles expertise elevate her singles game, is also a strong contender, having reached the quarterfinals in 2024. Reflecting on past champions, icons like Maria Sharapova (2008) and home favorite Ashleigh Barty (2022) have left an indelible mark on this tournament.

In doubles, Coco’s sharp net play makes her a formidable partner, while Barbora’s Grand Slam-winning experience and tactical brilliance ensure her continued dominance.

Our wheelchair tennis athletes are equally inspiring. Jiske Griffioen, Sam Schroder, and Joachim Gerard continue to shine. Jiske, alongside Diede de Groot, won the Australian Open women’s wheelchair doubles title last year. Sam secured his third consecutive quad singles title, while Joachim, partnering with Martín de la Puente, clinched the UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters title.

The doubles field is stacked with talent this year as well. Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz, last year’s quarterfinalists, bring their elite teamwork back to Melbourne. Marcelo Arévalo and Matthew Ebden, the 2024 men’s doubles champions, are ready to defend their title, with Marcelo entering as the current World No. 1 in doubles. Matthew, playing his home Slam, will undoubtedly have the crowd on his side.

We are incredibly proud of our HEAD athletes and their continued excellence. Supporting them with high-performance equipment, accessories, sportswear, and footwear, we ensure they stay at the top of their game. Our commitment to them mirrors our commitment to every player who picks up a racquet, whether they’re competing for Grand Slam titles or just enjoying the game.

For 75 years, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of innovation and performance—and we’re just getting started. Here’s to another 75 years of passion for tennis. And if you’re lucky enough to attend the matches, we’ll see you down under!
